Sudan Government and Economic Status
Sudan is a poor country that has gone through civil war, social conflict. Also in July 2011, they experienced a secession in South Sudan where they were in charge of three-fourths of the Sudan’s oil production. The oil sector has driven much of Sudan’s GDP growth since 1999. For the past ten years, the economy prospered from high oil prices and increase in oil production. After the secession, Sudan has had a problem with maintaining economic stability due to oil earnings providing a far lower share of the country’s need for hard currency and budget revenues.
Sudan’s political instability and prolonged lawlessness has ruined the country’s chance for economic development or long-term investment.
